Questioning

We were learning to question as we read. We read Bob Orr’s poem.

We asked:
WHO?
DID WHAT?
WHEN?
WHERE?
WHY?
HOW?

We checked what inarticulate and in so many words meant. Then we figured out that the poem was something to do with the Treaty of Waitangi!

We drew pictures to show what we saw in our head after we worked out what the poem meant.

WALT find information: Whitu, Waru, Iwa

We were learning to read a story and find out:

WHO

WHAT

WHEN

WHERE

WHY

HOW

We are using brain webs to organise our information.

Jemima: We had to check in the book if we were right because in Heat It Up you could tell it was near the afternoon because the sun was going down.

Tessa: I drew pictures

Holly A: I did pictures and writing. I wrote whole sentences

Jordan: I did a little picture with the writing underneath. The writing helps me to remember but the picture looks cool.

To find this information:

  1. Look in the book
  2. Check the illustrations (pictures)
  3. Use pictures to put down what you found out
  4. Use words to collect the information
  5. Read the book out loud and work together
  6. Present it properly in our books with the date and the heading
  7. Used the words like Who What When Where Why How to organise the information so you can find information easily
